About School

ISH is a non-profit organization supported by the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid ropics (ICRISAT), also a non-profit organization. This set-up gives ISH the status of a school administered by a foreign/consular mission. ISH is formally managed by the Director General of ICRISAT with the help of ISH Advisory Board guiding the principal in managing the school. The principal is responsible for managing the day to day operations of school.

ISH was founded in 1982. The first IGCSE Cambridge Exams was administered in 2003 and the first IB Diploma was given in 2007 when the first batch of IB students graduated from ISH.
ISH is very proud to have been the first school in India to receive international accreditation from the Council of International Schools(CIS) and continues to be accredited by CIS and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges(NEASC). ISH is also the first school in Andhra Pradesh to be authorized to offer the IB diploma.

ISH also has the accreditation from Cambridge International Education(CIE), International Baccalaureate Organization(IBO), UK Department for Education and Skills(DfES), University of Cambridge local examinations Syndicate. ISH has memberships with Near East South Asian Council of Overseas Schools (NESA) and The Association of International Schools of India(TAISI).

ISH is a English medium co-educational day school that provides education for children between the ages of 18 months to 18 years. At present our student body consists of 268 students from over 26 different countries. The majority of the students at ISH are from abroad. That said, ISH is able to admit a limited number of Indian citizens. Over 34 % of the ISH staff is international coming from 12 different countries. This is a really unique feature of ISH compared other international schools in Hyderabad. The tenure of teachers at ISH ranges between five to twenty years. The faculty to student ratio is less than 1:6 and the school’s preferred class size is 15 students.
ISH focuses on preparing students for university abroad and indeed almost all our students go to prestigious universities across the world, with majority attending the universities in the United States.
ISH believes that each student is unique. The school takes an individualized and personalized approach to learning. Our aim is to encourage each student to not only strive to achieve academic excellence but also aspire to become a socially aware and responsible individual who is well-equipped to excel in a global society.

Campus Details

The main ICRISAT campus stretches for 1,500 hectares/3,600 acres. The School campus is spread over 10 acres. Its location on the ICRISAT campus provides students with extraordinary access to nature and most unusual learning environment, with science labs, a museum, a medieval fort, and a weather station all on the ICRISAT campus.

The Elementary and Secondary school have their own respective buildings with each block having their own science laboratories, music rooms, libraries, art rooms, computer rooms, language room and playgrounds.

Facilities at ISH includes a Football ,Cricket fields, Tennis courts, Basketball courts, Badminton courts, an outdoor multipurpose area , a indoor air-conditioned multipurpose hall and a pavilion style canteen. The ICRISAT campus offers opportunities for other outdoor pursuits including Swimming Pool, cross country running and cycling.

Awards & Achievements

Most attend universities in the United States that have competitive admission requirements. Majority of the students at ISH are from outside India, but they also admit a limited number of Indian students.

About Teachers/Faculty

There are 47 faculty members from 12 different counties. 34% of our teachers are from outside India with experience in teaching in many International Schools abroad. This is a feature unique to ISH. The average tenure of our teachers are more than five (5) years. The range being five to fifteen years working at ISH. The Student faculty ratio is less than 1:6.

The teachers are experienced and highly qualified. They are dedicated professionals who work together as a team to ensure that highest quality of education is delivered to students. Teachers engage in regular professional development to maintain those standards. What is also unique at ISH are our teacher–student relationships. Teachers treat students as equals, and as an individual in accordance with their personality. Teachers are familiar with their students and provide consistent individual attention to each child.

Admission Details

The Admissions process at ISH is designed to be as efficient and positive as possible for all applying students. All applicants who are admitted to ISH are expected to function within the regular classroom. The Admissions Office may send a confidential Student Evaluation form requesting additional information to the student’s current or previous school.

With regards to the Admission process, we would need the following paper work and forms.
- Application forms
- Student medical form
- Family info form
- Official school transcript
- School records of the last two years (if non-English, translation required)
- Other relevant information if applicable e.g. special programmes / modified courses that your child may have followed (if non-English, translation required).
- A copy of appropriate pages from the passport(s) including an Indian visa if the student is not an Indian citizen
- One current passport photo from the student and one of each of the family member.

Academics Details

From reception (Kindergarten)to grade 8, ISH follows its own curriculum based on best practices from the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Europe.In grades 9-10, ISH follows the IGCSE, an international curriculum developed and administered by Cambridge University International Examinations.In grades 11-12, ISH follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, the most widely recognized international curriculum in the world.
ISH is accredited by two foreign accreditation agencies: the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS).

ISH has an inclusive admission policy; students with a diverse range of ability levels and educational experiences are accepted into the school.

Extracurricular:
Creativity, action and service (CAS) is an integral component and the life line of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
CAS helps students to enhance their personal and interpersonal development through experiential learning. At the same time, it provides an important counterbalance to the academic pressures of the rest of the diploma programme. Each student has a different goal and need and CAS helps them to gain such experiences that are profound and life changing.
CAS has been integrated into the ISH middle and high school curriculum through after school activities.
